Our Proud Roots

 Chill Out & Proud is an annual Pride & Folk Festival in  Somerset, Kentucky organized initially by PFLAG Somerset. They are now  incorporated as their own 501(c)(3)! Chill Out and Proud delivers a  family-friendly & all-inclusive community Pride arts event, where  you can "chill out" and "be proud". Chill Out and Proud offers the  LGBTQPIA2S+ community and our allies a fully-affirming pride festival, where  you can be free to be yourself. Their inaugural festival was held in  2019 at the downtown Judicial Center plaza in Somerset. COVID-19 forced  us and many others to move to virtual events in 2020 and 2021. The  result was Chill In and Proud, a virtual version of our annual festival. Chill Out and  Proud was held in 2022 at Somerset Community College's Festival Field.  We could not be more proud of our involvement in what has grown into (we daresay) the BEST Pride in Kentucky.

We've picnic'd with the best of them for a few years, but we threw our very first Pride Prom (Pride Prom 2024: This is Me) last year! And we are doing it again! Our theme this year is Somewhere Over the Rainbow. We are stepping out on June 7, 2024 at 6 p.m. and not coming back to Kansas until 10 p.m. There will be music, frivolity, food, and performances by our Queen, Tiffany County, along with our Diamond, Viktor Diamond.  Performances are expected to be around 9:30 p.m. DO NOT MISS THIS!  Get tickets here!
