Founded in 1973 after the simple act of a mother publicly supporting her gay son, PFLAG is the nation's largest family and ally organization.
PFLAG is the first and largest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQPIA2S+) people, their parents and families, and allies. With over 400 chapters and 200,000 members and supporters crossing multiple generations of families in major urban centers, small cities, and rural areas across America, PFLAG is committed to creating a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed.
This vast grassroots network is cultivated, resourced, and serviced by the staff of PFLAG National, the National Board of Directors, and the all-volunteer Regional Directors Council.
PFLAG Somerset was established in 2019. PFLAG Somerset is a member of the Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce. We are also proud to support the other Kentucky Chapters, including Louisville and Danville. If you are in our area, we invite you to become a member of PFLAG Somerset! Membership allows you to become a member of PFLAG national as well as a voting member of PFLAG Somerset. A household membership is $25*. Thanks to a generous donor, national dues have been covered until September 2024, so currently household memberships are only $10. A household membership grants membership to every interested individual living with you. Click below for more information and to sign up! You do not have to be a member of PFLAG Somerset to access resources or attend meetings and public events.
*National Dues are included with membership

Michelle Fisher (She/They) is the President of PFLAG Somerset, Vice President of Pulaski County Operation UNITE, and LAV Attorney with AppalReD Legal Aid. She has called this community home since moving here to work with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking nearly 8 years ago. She was introduced to the theory of intersectionality (Kimberle Crenshaw) while studying Political Science and Philosophy (as well as Arabic language and culture) at Vassar College. It has informed her life's work ever since. She believes strongly in chosen family, and it is her goal to make this community a place where everyone can thrive.
