PFLAG was founded by a mother publicly supporting her gay son in 1973. That's right, 50 years old! PFLAG is the first and largest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people, their families, and allies. You don't have to be a parent to join our ranks; you just have to be a friend.
Pride Prom will be held this year at the Old Ferguson School across the railroad tracks (540 Highway 3057, Somerset, Kentucky). Our theme is Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Due to a scheduling conflict, we will be having the event on June 7th rather than June 1st--so you, too, can go celebrate in Corbin, Kentucky! We are thrilled to announce that we have secured a Diamond for our Drag Queen this year. That's right, folks, we have a King (Viktor Diamond) and Queen (Tiffany County) set to perform at approximately 9:30 p.m. Get those tickets! Note: this is geared towards folks 16 and older.
Join us for our annual Picnic in the Park, held at the same location as our Prom this year. We will be supplying a main dish (an assortment of sandwiches). We ask attendees to bring a dish to share along with an ingredients card to avoid allergy issues.
Join Chill Out and Proud Somerset at The Hip Kiln for a Pride Pottery Paint & Sip! Pottery & beverages will be available to purchase. Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot.
Corbin is having their very first Pride! You don't want to miss this! Also, note they are having their own Picnic in the Park on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at 701 Engineer Street (St. John's Park). Free food and activities for all ages!
The festival consists of live entertainment, speakers, a diverse array of vendors, food and drink, community booths, and activities. It is an event of the Lexington Pride Center.
Join our friends in Danville (we bet you'll spot some PFLAG Danville folks) at this Pride Picnic where you can enjoy a side of fun with your food with chosen family. Email danvillekypride@gmail.com for more info!
PFLAG Somerset hosts support meetings on the fourth Thursday of each month from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. EST at A New Beginnings Achievement Center (600 Bogle Street, Somerset, Kentucky). Park in the lower lot and enter through the door on the right. Our meetings are confidential and all are welcome, including LGBTQ+ youth and adults, family members, chosen family, friends, allies, and those who wish to learn more about LGBTQ+ issues. You do not have to be a member to attend, though we will have membership and volunteer sign-ups available at the meeting. Should you wish to become a member, dues are $10.00 per household at this time, with National dues covered through to the beginning of our fiscal year (September). For this month's September meeting, we are hearing from AppalReD on housing rights, discussing opportunities to serve on the board, and reminding folks that membership dues are due as we begin our new year. We have 10 tickets available to give away for Chill Out and Proud, and there will be light refreshments (pizza, so if you need accommodations, let us know).

PFLAG Somerset is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We are made up of a volunteer board and rely on generous donations from the public to operate. Donations allow us to provide resources, programming, and events to the community (which directly impacts the mental health of all, especially our youth). Any amount helps and is appreciated.
We meet monthly, typically the 4th Thursday of each month from 5:30-7:30 p.m. We meet at A New Beginning Achievement Center (park in the lower lot, enter through the door on the right).
